Bengals #1 overall pick of the 96 draft Ki-Jana Carter

wow, this is a loaded question because there have been so many of them, so why don't i skip the cliche answers like ryan leaf and todd marinovich and name a few that just never amounted to anything.. kijana carter was a definite bust, that was a good name drop.. but here's my short list:

how about lawrence phillips, or akili smith, david terrell from michigan, tim couch or someone who i thought was going to a be a badass(i'm a hawkeye fan) Tom Knight who was a top 10 pick for arizona and floundered in the league for a few years and never did anything significant besides sucking up a storm

Wow so many of them come to mind just from the past 5 years but I will only name a few:

Byron Leftwich
Kyle Boller
Charles Rogers

The biggest bust would have to be Ryan Leaf.

I saw that alot of people picked Ricky Williams but Williams was considered one of the best players in the league at one point in his career. So I wouldnt call him a bust because he could have been a HOF and didnt live up to his potential. I would call him a Jackass for giving up on football to become a hippy and thus ruining his chances at the HOF.

Ryan Leaf

As a Chargers fan, I have to say Ryan Leaf was the worst bust in recent years.
After that, I have to say Ricky Williams.
Future busts will be Michael Vick.
I disagree that Bosworth was that much of a bust. He played for 3 years of his 10 year contract and led the team in many defensive catagories.

Ryan Leaf and Todd Marinovich

its generallly believed that its brian bosworth and tony mandrich. however mandrich did have a decent career i believe but not what people thought.

i wouldn't say ryan leaf because many doubted his ablity when he came into the league to begin with and he wasn't the unanomus pick for #1.

you could throw rick meyer in there as well. but i believe more than one sports show has done a segment on this topic and its generaly believed bosworth or mandrich.

Ryan Leaf. People actually got mad that the Colts chose Peyton Manning #1 instead of Leaf. Thankfully they didn't!

Ryan Leaf. Number two pick, and some wondered why the Colts took Manning, and spent parts of what 4 years in the league. Throwing temper tantrums and pissing off team mates. I think it's great that he realizes how bad he was and has moved on in his life.
