I have a pop-up blocker on the computer but it's not helping. Someone "hijacked" my computer. I've tried going to the web sites to cancel them but it doesn't work.

Get and install "Spybot search and Destroy". This will rid your cpu of all spyware. Then install your pop-up blockers. Also, I would recommend getting a good firewall in addition to your windows xp firewall. Popups are popping up because you have programs secretly installed you cpu that tracks your usage. Get rid of the programs and you get rid of the popups.

I was told by tech support that all of the pop ups will not be eliminated because some information has to get through to access some of the sites that we often visit.
