Infant constipation is characterized by the same signature, hard stools plaguing adult constipation sufferers. If an infant has not "filled" its diaper in more than three days, the kid is likely constipated. An infant's bowels usually move up to four times a day, although the bowels of breast-fed babies move more often than those who are fed by bottle. You may try this site, I find that it has allot of good info about this specific issue:

Good luck, I will send you positive energy as well as my prayers!

Because your baby is feeling not too good with all gas inside while having constipated, and not wanting to take any of the drinks. With drinking, It makes feels full, bloating, and still can feel hungry. Please take your baby to the after hours emergency if your baby's dr is not in the office, because I am concerned about your baby being dehydrated. Having a lots of liquid in his body will slow down the feelings of gas as he's starting on his solid foods. His body is learning how to produce the waste into the softer later in the couple months, but your baby needs lots of liquid of waters though. If your baby won't take any drink or any of liquid- It may lead to more problem for your baby if not bring this issue soon to your baby doctor or someone at the emergency clinic.
I use the mineral oil for my oldest son once a day every day into his drink , because he always have the constipate stool to avoid having trauma going to the bathroom. I would not suggest you try this since my son is 7 years old. Your baby is 6 months old. Giving the mineral oil is under the supervision of Doctor's.

As others have said you can try jarred applesauce or prunes.
Our daughter hd serious trouble with constipation until she started solids. When it got bad for her, we used gylcerin suppositories. When we had to use them, she had relief (and I had a full diaper to change!) almost immediately. We had consulted with our pediatrician when our daughter was having trouble. He told us to use the suppositories when juices didn't work. (We bought Fleet suppositories and cut them in half long ways as our ped told us to do.)
I would suggest that since you have had no luch with juice, you try the jarred foods. If your son is in pain and you want to get him some immediate relief, I would suggest consulting your pediatrician and asking about suppositories. They really were a God send when our daughter was screaming in pain.
As for the suggestion of using Karo syrup... Karo syrup is nearly pure sugar. Personally, I would never give a baby Karo syrup. Even if it worked, I would rather use my pediatrician's suggestions than to feed my child sugar. I've posted a couple of links below concerning Karo syrup. One is the nutritional information which says that the syrup contains sugar and salt. (How sugar and salt are going to help with constipation is beyond me!) The other is Karo's FAQ page. Under the fifth heading, "General Information", the compant says you should only give your child Karo syrup if you are specifically instructed by a doctor to do so.
Personally, if a doctor suggested that I give my child Karo syrup, I'd find another doctor.
Good luck and I hope your little one finds some relief soon!

If the solids are making him constipated it means his digestive tract is not ready for them. You should discontinue them immediately and wait at least two weeks and preferably a month before trying again. Babies become ready for solids between 6-9 months. Also grains are generally very hard to digest and should NOT be the first foods you introduce according to La Leche League and many other organizations.
To relieve the constipation use glycerin suppositories they are very safe and very effective. Try even just a half dose to start, they work very well. As very little if any is absorbed by the blood stream there is almost no risk of side effects.
Corn Syrup (Karo Syrup), honey, and maple syrup have all been linked to infant botulism they should NEVER be given to a baby under 1 year old.
"Botulism spores may also be found in undercooked food, corn syrup and even maple syrup. For this reason, feeding an infant any of these foods is risky as well."
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-botulism/HQ00854
"Clostridium botulinum is a spore-forming organism that is common in nature. The spores may be found in soil and certain foods (such as honey and some corn syrups)."

I have a five month old that has constipation problems as well. I did the half prune juice and half water (warm...babies will drink it if it's warm). I only make 2oz total and then let them drink their regular milk. It works for my son so far. Hopefully it'll be able to help your six month old.
Make sure it's 100% prune juice (no water added to it or concentrated).

i know this isn't the healthiest way, but it worked real well and quick for my eldest child when he was 11/2 yrs old. fix him a cup of coffee with milk and a little sugar, and feed him 1/2 a chocolate bar. that should work. if there is a difference, but not quite working, then give him the rest of the chocolate bar. he may be a little energeitc for a while, but it is worth it to see him relieved and happy. if you try this, i hope it works. we did this while traveling across the country, and had fast results and a happy little boy!

Mix the juice with some cereal if he won't drink it. It does say on the box that you can do that. If you are formula feeding add a little bit more water to his feeding it won't hurt. Good luck

Juice is not a requirement--it is actually BETTER if he doesn't take it. There is nothing in it that he can't get from formula and solids. If he is constipated call his pedi and they will probably tell you to get glycerine suppositories.
