I am not too familiar with the area, so would like something relatively close to the theater.

There are a LOT of places nearby. The Frolic Room is right next door. It's small, old-school, and you'll see people from age 21-60 in there on any given night.

About a block or so away (in the HOB office building) is The Well. It's a great place too.

On Sunset (across from the Well) is the Bowery (tucked in between Fabiolus Cafe and Magnolia. It's a traditional New York style bar. It's a teeny bit pricey and can get crowded quickly, but I like it.

About two blocks down Hollywood Blvd., on Cahuenga, you can go to the Beauty Bar. It's a fun atmosphere and they play good music.

Have fun!

I'd recommend the "Tiki-Ti".

It's about 2 miles from the Pantages. It's on 4427 Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles.

It's a very cool polynesian bar that has a small private club feel that has been there since the 60's and it pretty much hasn't changed a bit. The drinks are strong and decadent. We always take out of town guests or even those who frequent cool hipster places here. They're always impressed.

Here's their website: http://www.tiki-ti.com/pages/home.html

depending on the time you get out I always liked to go to the top of the Holiday inn there is this restaurant and usually a trio playing with a spinning floor that circles around allowing a 360 degree look out the windows into the city you can see downtown century city planes landing and taking off at L A X and of course Hollywood (its been a while since I was there but you should contact Holiday inns to find out and see if its open the night you need it
