George Washington was the only president who did not live in the White House. He chose both the site and the architect of the White House, but the building was not completed by the end of his second term in 1797.

George Washington. Then Madison for a short time because the White house went on fire. There, Dolly Madison saved Washington's portrait, her parrot, and other valuable gems of the White House. Good Luck on whatever you do!
