Not usually. If the baby's doctor recommends a specific formula that isn't covered by WIC, just ask for a prescription for WIC. Then when you apply for WIC, make sure you tell them that you have a prescription for a specific formula.

I use to be on wic the only thing you have to do is tell the doctor that you are on wic and that the only way they will pay for the formula you need is with a prescription or them telling them why you need it. It shouldn't be hard at all.

i use to be on it and they will let you choose just make sure you bring a doctors statement saying that your baby has to be on a special type of formula...and they will probably give you the cans not the powder because i heard they wont give powder any more i think I'm not positive so ask first...so just make a wic appointment talk to the lady about your situation and they will work with you...most woman that work at those offices are super nice...good luck mom

The formula that is allowed where I live is Infamil with Iron. I would definately ask when you go in to try to get on WIC. It might depend on which state you live in, you might not be able to get the special stuff.

Good Luck!

i am on wic and they have a contract with enfamil. my baby has to use enfamil gentlease for her belly. i know they have regular lipil, prosobee, gentlease, and lactofree. im in texas so if you are in another state it might be different. you should be able to call 1800-942-3678 and get the number to your local wic office, and ask them if they offer that formula.

All it takes is your pediatrician to give you the prescription. They will not give you any problems as long it is from the doctor's office. The doctor should not have a problem with it either. Good luck and congrats!!

Do you even actually NEED wic or are you just getting a free handout?

Your doctor just needs to write up a note on a prescription pad as far as I know.
