My husband and I have been self-employed for many years. We always used the saying "Work for someone else, then do it yourself." I would not open a business any other way. You need to understand the strengths and weakness of any business before you put your time and money on the line.

Indeed something that you love. In addition to that, your business must offer something that IS in demand...Ever so often we start businesses because of excitement and loving the fantastic products or services but the ship runs aground if no one else but YOU have the excitement and interest in the chosen field.
I love business and I like deciphering BEFORE starting one.
For example I've recently become involved with a network marketing company that has some very unique aspects to it that have bulletproofed it in this marketplace.
