We're just stopping for the night on our way to LA...where do you recommend us staying? Keep in mind we don't want to spend much money...only want to spend around $80 at the most. We found a really inexpensive place called Rodeway Inn that has supposedly been refurbished in 2006 (anyone stay there?) We are also looking at Best Western, Quality Inn, & Redroof Inn etc. Which should we most definitely stay away from??

We are not going to Vegas! We are leaving from Northern Utah and driving through Vegas to Los Angeles. We wanted to stay somewhere a couple hours away from LA so that it wouldn't take very long to get there the next morning. We know that there is nothing to "do" in Barstow, we are just going to sleep there.

there are loads of motels in Barstow. Most are nice and the rates are within reason. There are some pretty good places to eat too. All the ones you named are fine. If you wish you could drive about 30 or 40 miles further and stay in Victorville. It's very nice and also has many nice motels and places to eat.

There is NOTHING in Barstow, and you will be sorely disappointed with any of those hotels you mentioned. I would just drive straight to Vegas. Take turns driving rather than staying in Barstow... ick!! Good luck!!!

I actually stayed at the Red Roof Inn last March and it was fine. It's nothing glamourous but it is cheap and I think it's better than staying in your car. I stayed there with several friends and it was perfect for that. There is a McDonalds is in walking distance too.

Why would you stay in Barstow? It is so barren.....why not drive directly to Vegas it's not too much farther...just a couple more hours.....Barstow...YUCK
