I need to apply for Social Security Disability Benifits, but I need help with the forms. I don't want to go to an attorney, but I have heard there are advocates that can help with little to no cost. But where are they??...I've looked around the web but it's hard to tell who is reputable. I'm in San Diego, CA if that matters??? Please Help!!

Check with The Access Center of San Diego (TACSD)
1295 University Avenue, Suite 10, San Diego, CA 92103
Phone: (619) 293-3500
FAX: (619) 293-3508

I also recommend my colleague's web site that has free and low-cost information in the book bindery that is very helpful. See: http://www.helpwithbenefits.com/

There's also a lot of experienced peer support on this Yahoo! Group:

Good luck!

Please do yourself a huge favor and do not use an attorney or advocate until you have taken all the free steps you can do yourself. They will charge you up the wazoo for their 'help'. http://www.ssa.gov is the Social Security Administration.

They can answer a lot of questions, you can email them and download forms. Also, they'll give a hotline # and the # of your local office. Most SS offices are really helpful. True, some are not, but as long as it's free...
