American *currently* loves Democrats. Generally, it's like a pendulum. It swings one way, then the other. People tired of Reagan & Bush loved Clinton. Then people tired of Clinton loved Bush Jr. Now people are tired of Bush Jr. Give the Dem's 8 or 12 years in the White House, and it'll swing around again.

Historically, more Republican presidents, US senate, and US congress. Howerver, historically more Democratic state senates, state congress, and governors. The people as a whole know how to maintain balance.
