I agree with sodgirl. I think on average, the jobs you can get with a degree are higher paying than those without a degree. But it is not always that simple. Take Bill Gates for example....he dropped out and is the richest man in the world. Have a degree/not having a degree is not 100% guaranteed for success or failure. Entrepreneurs (starting your own business) are often very successful and often do not require degrees....and people like philosophy majors or poli sci majors (sorry, for those two examples, I'm sure there are success stories out there), they say, may end up in retail if their grades weren't good enough for grad school. Plus you've got the skilled workforce like pipefitters & electricians & carpenters & airline mechanics who can make a pretty penny.

Also, how much you make does depend on where you live as well.

I encourage everyone to get an education. But school is not for everyone. I have met people that have a four yr degree that do not make any money, or have any sense. Then I have met people that barely pass the 6th grade and are millionaires. It really depends on you, your drive for life, and what you want to do
