I know that in Russian it means "yes rum" and in Italian it means "from Rome", but the sign that the words come from is in Iran. So I was wondering maybe the words are Persian and not Russian or Italian.

It doesn't mean anything in Farsi. Stretching out the reading it could mean "dar o ma" which would mean "door and us". But that would be very unlikely.
Most probably it is actually ITALIAN, since it obviously has the reference to Rome. And it would actually mean "from Rome"... perhaps it was a sign for a restaurant ?
