There isn't a specific amount of dots because all basketballs are different. For example a Nike ball might have less writing on it than a Spalding ball so then there would be more dots because there is more room. It depends how the leather or synthetic material is cut, because they may cut the dots on the edge in half. So there is no right answer for your question.

That would totally depend on the ball and the amount of writing on it. There are all kinds of different sizes of balls with different words and such on them, so it would all depend.
