She has to put transmission fluid in it for the car to go in drive; it'll go in reverse. The coolant container(that holds antifreeze) is full of tranmission fluid. Someone said its a hole in one of the lines and she'll need another radiator. It doesnt get overheated and the heat er does its job.I dont want her to overflow the car with transmission fluid or that'll be another problem.
Thanks in advance!

The Transmission Cooler is in the radiator. It sounds as if that was punctured or damaged allowing ATF into the radiator. It may not overheat if your not losing coolant but ATF makes for lousy coolant. If this was the case you would need to replace the radiator.

Until then, to check the transmission fluid level always make sure the engine is running with the transmission in park, otherwise it will read low.

Have this checked by a professional!!! If there were just a hole in a line, it would not put trans fluid into the radiator. The reason she must put trans fluid in it to put it in drive is because the trans will starve for fluid in the drive bands first. The real concern is why is it putting trans fluid in the radiator...Most shops will look at it for free, but repairs might cost you.

I think you have 2 problems.

1 is the transmission is going bad.

2 Someone put transmission fluid in the radiator container by accident, as if there was Trans fluid in the radiator from the transmission it would also have WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION!

Sounds like a punctured lower radiator tank. That's where the tranny fluid cooler lines go to. Take the car to a radiator shop and have it checked out,

replace out the (EGR valve) I had a Buick LeSabre and were given the valve out of a used vehicle on the junk backyard and had it positioned on for 20.00 and my vehicle worked high-quality. those are very intense priced new. I had a similar style of difficulty. I replaced out the plug wires also notwithstanding it did not help until eventually I were given the EGR valve.
