Her death was a mystery, My mother in law was going to leave my father in law and take my husband with her to colorado when he was 9. One week later she was dead. She said she was going to get groceries and when they found her van her throat was slit and there was a blunt force trauma to the head. They said she died from the seat belt cutting her neck from the impact of hitting the ditch. Her neck was cut from the other way. and she wasn't heading in the right direction of the store. My father in law was never home at night when she was alive and the night she died he was home. After she was dead for only six months he got married again. He bought fancy things a big house new vehicles. When the woman divorced him she got everything, I think because she had something on him. His first two wives died and he collected a lot of money and spent it quick. Is there any way to bring the case back up or get records? How do I get a death certificate also?

Only a private detective might get enough to get the cops to reopen. You could get copies of all the files, pictures etc, and request it get reopened. You may have to exhume your mother's body and pay for a second autopsy and all that stuff.

A death certificate is public record, so just go to the county in which the death occured and pay the $10 for a copy. You can also contact a homocide detective in the same county and explain your concerns. Its a "cold case" now, but good cops love to solve those!

Your mother in law is dead and you want her back? Thats a new one... Just kidding...

It is not a cold case file - its not any case, other than a solved traffic accident.... Id be curious where you got this information regarding the death - from her son, who was recalling memories from being 9 years old?? Most likely not murder, as the police found - just the imagination/anger of a child to his father, who was never there for him...

After 15 years, any soft tissue will be suffienctly degraded as to make it useless for autopsy purposes (as far as a knife to the throat is concerned) - unless the wound was sufficiently deep enough to cause the bone to be knicked or cut - which doesnt happen often in cut throats...thats a lot of tissue to hack through (sorry to be gruesome).
