I woke up this morning and I fliped the covers over to get up and ready for school, and I noticed on my Doberman, Hammer, a Large lump on his back. And it didnt bother him becuase he was still sleeping on my bed. But i touched it and could put my hand around it comfortably ( im 15, so my hand isnt that big, roughly the width side of the keyboard long) and put a little pressure on it, and it hurt him. He turned around and moved my hand with his nose. I called my mom and she came over and looked at it, and she didnt know what it was either. Well when i got hom from school I took a look at it and noticed it was a bit smaller and It looked like a long lump the size of a squished lemon, and on top, a smaller longish lump the size of a peanut. She told me she had iced it and it went down a little, but i dont know what it is? I think either a welt, bite, or My most WORST fear, a tumor. It wasent like that yesterday? I did make an appt tomorrow at 1, but im scared? what do u think it is?

I know you're scared and if I were you, I would be too. I'll pray that it is something simple. Good luck at the vet and please keep us updated. Since reading about the vase incident I'd think it was caused by that and it is probably fluid. My thoughts only, but I think your Dobie boy is going to be all right. I do want to give you praise for loving and caring about him as deeply as you do. He's one of the luckiest dogs.May you and Hammer both have a good nights sleep.

Lumps can be anything. Something that grew that quickly might be just a bite from a spider and your dog just happens to be extremelly sensitive. A tumor can not be ruled out yet. Your Dr. will probably do a fine needle aspirate, where he/she will stick a small needle in the lump and blow the contents on a slide and look under the microscope. This helps in differentiating if it's a tumor, or abscess, or bleeding, but there is the possibility that may not show anything. Depending on what the Dr. thinks, further diagnostic may include removing the mass under surgery and sending it to another lab. Good luck and hope everything turns out ok!

I its reduced in size it does sound like a bite of some sort. I wouldn't worry too much.Wait and see what the vet has to say. Cancerous tumors that large don't usually pop up over night.

I'm sure it's not a tumor. First off, it wouldn't pop up over night. Second, tumor shouldn't be painful to the touch.

I can bet he got bit by something. Best to have a ver look at it and see. they might shave the hair to have a better look at the skin, but it'll grow back.

Don't freak out, I'm sure he'll be OK. Glad to know you have the appointment!

If it reduced in size with ice it is probably not a tumor. Most likely a hematoma (blood filled pocket) or edema (water filled pocket) caused by the blow to his back. Take him to the vet. He may want to aspirate any fluid that is in there just to be sure. Don't be too scared I'm sure he'll be fine.

It's probably a tumor. My dog had one and luckily it wasn't cancerous. Get the dog to the vet as soon as possible, they grow real fast.

I thhink its just swollen with fluids or something. I dont think its a tumor. But you should take him to the vet, just to make sure.

if it's a tumour it must be treated by a vet or it will kill your dog. after a long time & a lot of pain. it may be a benign tumour or a cyst. either way, seek vetinary advice/treatment as soon as possible. hope all goes well.
