I don't remember telling my political representative that he/she could give so much control of the airwaves to the cable and telcom corporations? Where is the opportunity for the common public citizenry to voice his/her opinion over the airwaves?

theres a difference between being public and being accessible (though everyone has a right to public access television). do you have the money to broadcast a signal across the country? if you did then you could do what the cable companies do. out of the kindness of their heart the fcc has mandated their be public access television, so somewhere there is a studio with cameras and broadcasting equipment that you are allowed to use for that purpose.
but i think what your most upset about and what everyone should be upset about is the monopoly that cable companies receive when servicing certain cities. I'm only capable of using AT&T's service which means they can charge or do anything and if I want service I have to comply.

because "public property" is a label to keep you thinking you have some sort of control over things. A bit like "democracy" where you can apparently choose your own leaders and life a life of blissful ignorance when in fact the country is run by the same group of poeple anyway

In my government class, we learned that the airwaves are controlled by the FCC (Federal Communication Commission). I don't believe people can say a thing about it.

Reagan and Bush 1 killed the Fairness Doctrine because righties don't like people having free speech and equal airtime.

This is something the Democrats need to reinstate.

The left have stations to talk on. We can't help it if no one listens to them and they go broke. It seems the left can't stand it that Rush,Sean,Laura,Savage and many more make it in talk show land cause TRUTH hurts. If you don't like the Conservative talk shows, don't listen to them. Why in the world would you want a law to make us listen to the left on OUR stations?
You guys have NPR which is government and publicly funded! Our shows make it on their own cause we like the TRUTH! We support them!
