It depends on your gaming taste. If you like traditional gaming and standard Genres, the Xbox 360 is the system of your Choice. It has excellent Racing games like PGR3 or Test Drive Unlimited, Sport Games, Shooters like Gears of War and similar. Everything with the best all around Online-Functions, that I ever had.(yes, even better than on PC). However, Microsoft wants to be paid for this Matchmaking service through Xbox Live Gold (About $4 a Month).
Furthermore you get the Live Marketplace where you can download game Demos (try before you buy), movie trailers, Game add ons etc. for free.
And finally: Together with your PC the Xbox becomes a true Media Central. You can watch pictures and Movies or listen to MP3s that are stored on your PC.

Now for PS3. Similar to Xbox 360 you will get the same standard games in nice graphics. However, there is no standardized Online System. Every game has its own style of Matchmaking. On Xbox, I get a notification if one of my friends gets online. I can see on the Guide which game he is playing and instantly join his game and play with him.
Most games currently coming out for PS3 will also come out on Xbox, or are being cancelled for PS3 alltogether since the stagnating PS3 sales.

It's nice, that you get a Blue Ray Player. But in case HD DVD wins the Format War, you can put the PS3 right next to your Betamax VCR in the cellar.

If Blue Ray Wins, then Microsoft can still build an Blue Ray Add on Player for its Xbox console if needed.

If you owned either of there predecessors then your best bet it going with it's next gen version (assuming you plan on buying one of the two). The PS3 does have some better graphics but the 360 tricore processor can allow for it to surpass the PS3 in graphics. The PS3 does play Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray does look pretty nice but it recent side-by-side comparisons HD-DVDs have shown to perform much better than Blu-Ray, the 360 supports HD-DVDs but needs a separate player to play HD-DVDs or you can put them straight on to the hard drive. The 360 has a small hard drive , a mere 20 gig's, while the PS3 has an impressive 60gig, and an available 20 for a lower price. The 360 has a much more appealing price of $300 for the core system and $400 for the full system. The PS3 on the other hand, can be yours for $500 the 20 gig. or $600 for the 60 gig. (plus built in WIFI) although rumors are floating around that by the end of this year the price for a PS3 will drop. So after all is said and done, the 360 currently has the edge over the PS3. I know many PS3 fans will disagree with me, but I've done my homework and stand by my opinion. There are some more features each support that I left out, but if someone were to include them all it would be extremely long. If you need any more info just go to each of the systems OFFICIAL site and they will supply you with more information.

xbox 360 has better games right now but ps3 is a steal for the price. as soon as blue ray becomes more accepted and games take advantage of the tech, ps3 will take craps all over the 360. PC is still gaming king, no questions asked.

PS3, it has motion sensors(it is the main controls for the game Warhawk) Theres also Blu-ray disc drive, which normally costs $1,000, thats whyy it costs so much. With memory stick slots on the PS3 makes it easier to transfer videos music & photos onto its 20GB or 60GB hard drive. It also can play PS2 and PS One games, and dvds. It has you can also go on the internet and it even has its own instant messeging program. If you have a PSP your able to hook that up to the PS3 and tranfer files from your PSP to the PS3. You will also be able to use it in more many different things in games (like as the controller and rear view mirror in Formula 1). Plus theres games like Resistance Fall of Man, Madden, and Warhawk (which uses the motion sensors). If there are and glitches or problems i'm sure you will be able to fix them with the system updates, just like the PSP has. It may cost more but that's only cuz you are gettin more and at a better quality.
