Usually, I initiate the conversation. Saying something stupid isn't nearly as bad as an awkward silence!

I commonly initiate up it, this is strange reason i'm getting so frightened and under pressure over social situations, nevermind with my weigh down :o yet i assume if i in my opinion want something i will circulate and get it ;]

Yes I do and I'm getting quite good at it. I have to because of my job. I meet lots of people at the airport. Since most of them don't know anyone, it's up to me to make them feel at ease and stuff. I can usually say something to make them laugh or relate to me in someway. It's relatively ease if you think about it.
