Obviously, past cocaine use is not something that will keep you out of the presidency. Hell, you can even get reelected.

Well, he is a refreshing change from politics as usual. I have developed, in recent years, the philosophy that if you study the ballot carefully and recognize the name on the ballot you vote for the other guy,. Drug use -- he experimented when he was young that doesn't make him a user. Lack of experience that's a tough one because the wolves in Washington will try to maul him, chew him up and spit him out. But I think that is his strongest point. I once had a boss who made me the lead person even though he had several others with vastly more experience than me and I asked him why? He answered "Because you are too stupid to know it can't be done - and you get it done."
I'm all for Obama at this stage but there is a long way to go before Nov. 2008.

Admitted drug use? Clinton and Bush both had, they just "dodged" the question. As long as he's not using now, ..., not much of a concern. My suspicion is that 75% have taken drugs at one time. If he was an addict that would be a concern.
He's well spoken but then again, probably most politicians are. He better polished than some. Don't know about his substance.

He seems very sincere, very bright, and idealistic. I think that he would make a good president. I am somewhat worried about his ability to get elected. I really want a Democrat to be elected president in 2008 to try to undo some of the damage that George Bush has done to the country, and to our standing in the world.
I think that Democrats should be pragmatic and support the candidate who has the best chance of winning. If the country is not ready to elect a woman or an African-American, so be it. Nominate someone like Edwards.

His "honesty" is only because he knows he has no chance to win, so he has nothing to lose. Without experience, a plan, or a vision he will go down in the primaries. Sure he will fight the good fight, and impress people with his speaking skills, and his dream of a better America, but with no idea how to do it or get there, he will be exposed for the fraud he truly is.

Nice guy, come back when you've had real world experience. Make him a VP, Cabinet Officer and then run in 4 / 8 years. Would you hire someone with no experience to work on your car? If not, then why would you trust someone with no experience to run a 2.6 Trillion Dollar economy?

Appears to be genuine! It is not hard for a person to appear
to be anything they want to. Especially when they want to be
president of the USA. After all how many of the past presidents have been completely honest? I don't know much about him, but I think he needs to be subjected to a lot of questions. Also he has
no experience.

I'm voting for Barack Obama not because he's black, but because he is an honest man. He admitted to using drugs as a teen, and he is a real person. He is for the death penalty, abortion rights, and civil unions(not gay marriage). So I don't believe Barack is as liberal as they say he is. Vote Barack Obama!

I am glad he is not more experienced. All being experienced in Washington teaches is how to play partisan politics, The guy preaches unity and wants to bring the country back together. He is a breath of fresh air in an era where all politicians do is attack the other guy. I don't know how he will fair in the election, but he has my vote.
