My friend has a score of 980 (older test)what would that be in the new scoring?

The old tests had two parts. The average score for each part was about 500 or a little higher. So the average score for the old test was about 1000 - 1050. The 980 score is below average.

The new tests are different and have three parts instead of two. So if the averages are about the same, then an average score for the whole new test would be about 1550 - 1600. Assuming that your friend could do about as well on the new test as on the old one, then her score would be 1400 and something.

It is possible to bring up a low score by practicing ahead of time - there are some good practice books and even some courses you can take, although they are expensive.

the older and newer tests are pretty different
