Yes, Valentine's Day is a rip-off. I'm lucky to have a wife who agrees. We tell each other that just being together is the best Valentine present. I read in the paper today that a lot of women want nothing more than a card.

Roses are red
violets are blue
You asked the question
and this is my view.
Valentine's Day is just another over-hyped occasion for the card
and gift manufacturers to exploit the public's gullibility, we don't need it!
If you love someone you can show it in far more subtle ways than
giving a card, a teddy bear or whatever, just because that's what's expected.
So, after Valentine's Day, there's Mother's Day next month when more money gets spent, Father's day in June (more money), oh, and I nearly forgot Easter....
By the way, don't by Cadbury's Easter eggs unless you can tolerate nuts, they screwed up big time there, and so soon after
the salmonella fiasco too.
Yes, Valentine's Day is a rip-off, but only because we allow it to be. I'll shut up now, I have to write out the wife's Valentine's card or all Hell will be let loose in the morning....

I listen you! do no longer for get to operate the delivery fee. Valentines Day is this style of made-up vacation. another vacation has a purpose, i.e. christmas is the celebration of the delivery of Christ. I project you in searching one lady that is favourite with the historic previous or purpose of valentines day. i recognize 2 those that can allow you to recognize plenty about valentines day, the CEO of Hallmark, and the CEO of Hershey's chocolate. i'm no longer one among those bitter adult males which won't be able to get a valentine. i'm fortunately married to a astonishing lady that benefits the international wrapped in a bow. I do purely no longer opt for some made up vacation making me spend more beneficial money when I purely shelled out money for a pc and iphone below 2 months in the past (christmas)

My boyfriend believes that Valentine's Day is a holiday created by Hallmark and Mars Inc. He won't spend a dime on anything for Valentine's, and honestly, thats fine with me. So if you really want to actually go out and spend money on drinks well then you are celebrating Valentine's my friend.

It depends on what you want. In our relationship, Valentines day is every day - we wake up, see each other, laugh, and give thanks to our Deities for another day of loving each other.
My wife has had a bar of good chocolate tonight, and she will have a card in the morning. Neither of us wish to use hard-earned cash to indulge in a commercially-led celebration that simply stuffs money into the maws of the already-sated and over-engorged greetings card industry.

Yes, it's a rip off. If you love someone, you should show it every day, not just on one.
The problem is, if you don't get the wife/girlfriend something, you'll be in trouble, and the card/rose/chocolate manufacturers know this.

couples should treat each other nice all year round. If you are not in a relationship, it is a good day to declare you fancy the person on valentines day.. You may have a surprise yourself. Or shock.
