Are people of Turkish descent white or not? I would say they're more like sicillians (dark skinned but "white"). Whats your opinion?

oh and if anyone gives me another "WE'RE ALL HUMAN" answer, I'll report them to Yahoo! for spam and not answering the question.

Yeah I'd say that some would pass as white but most are darker than most West Europeans and a lot have unique features which are vageuly arabic but not very. A lot look East European like Romanians and other peoples in the Balkan states.

In Switzerland there are a fair amount that live here that I see. I can usually tell them apart from other types of people in Switzerland even if I don't speak to them.

And I hate that "we're all human" rubbish. Yes I know we are but I didn't ask that. Everytime I ask a Q that isn't in the slightest way offensive (except maybe to a super liberal) but is about the races, I get that or get called ignorant.

there is not any actual "white" race. There are caucasians who originated from around East Turkey, and that they vary from brown to mild, close to white (arabs are considered caucasian i think). Turks are frequently caucasian, yet some do have slightly 'asian like' advantageous factors. i'm 'white', quite lots finished english, yet i'm darker skinned than some arabs, via fact my father is very darkish skinned (could bypass for Mediterranean), and that i tan very definitely. As you mentioned, 'white' is perplexing to define via fact it is in accordance with dermis shade extremely than race, yet there's a lot of overlap. i've got observed spanish and portuguese human beings claiming to no longer be white via floor shade, even with being the comparable race as different Europeans. that's why human beings disagree with the colour words for race, as they are surprisingly misguided. pondering you're a million/2 english/german, you will probable be considered white, yet would certainly be Caucasian, the right term for the race.

I am half turkish and I don't consider that side of my family to be caucasion. Some of them are light skinned and some are dark but just because someone is light skinned doesn't make them caucasion. Turkey is considered part of the greater middle east so I'd say they're middle eastern. Here's some info I found....

The Middle East defines a geographical area, but does not have precise defined borders. The most common and highly arbitrary definition includes: Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Yemen, and Palestinian Territories. Many Western definitions of the "Middle East" — in both established reference books and common usage — define the region as "nations in Southwest Asia, from Afghanistan and Pakistan to Egypt." The inclusion of Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Turkey is sometimes contentious as they are not Arab states.

Most definitely. Turks, along with the Portuguese, Spanish, Italians & Greeks, are part of the "Mediterranean" sub-category of the Caucasian race.

They are just the last of the nations to move west from central Asia towards Europe like the Huns and Magyars before them. This is where most of the "white" nations came from so I guess they are.

Eh...I think they're sort of an in-between, along with some of the Eastern European countries in terms of appearance - some sort of mix between Middle Eastern and Western European.

That's my best guess.

For the most part, I consider them to be non-whites. There are some pockets of Turks that I would consider white though.
