Why are blonds supposed to be dumb?

Question

in jokes and stuff, blonds are really dumb but i know a lot of blonds that get straight A's.

and please somebody tell me what stereotypes are because i don't know...

It's a stereotype that has evolved over time into more of a good-natured joke. However, I'd be surprised if blondes find it particularly funny.

There are a few theories as to how the stereotype got started. Wikipedia states that in "Medieval Europe, the upper classes tended to be darker haired than the peasantry, likely due to the period tendency to marry within one's own class...lower class people were far more exposed to sunlight." As a result, "blonde hair was, at this time, often associated with commoners, who were ostensibly deemed less intelligent."

Is this how the stereotype actually started? Well, maybe, maybe not. I suspect it has more to do with film stars like Marilyn Monroe who specialized in playing naive but beautiful women. Ironic, considering a) Monroe was actually quite intelligent, and b) she wasn't a natural blonde.

This is the way I've got it figured...OK. Women who feel threatened or inferior to another woman...often calls them some really bad name....The way I've got it figured is...back in the old days when Old Wives Tales were being created.... Some jealous female started a rumor about another female, because she was blonde, and it just caught on. It isn't fair. My sister is blonde, and very intelligent. But you know how the Old Wives Tales, have been passed on and on down through the ages...

Why are blonde's supposed to be dumb? Well they aren't supposed to be - but a lot of them are. Maybe not more or less than others but for some reason if they are blonde, we as horrible human beings tend to notice it more.

I know a lot of people who are book smart but lack social skills and common sense - so people think they are stupid.

I think they mostly refer to bottle/fake blondes. I guess if a girl bleaches her hair to blonde she must be dumb. I know a lot of really dumb brunettes as well.

In a few years, it won't be blonds anymore, but someone else. It's just to tell a joke. "There's this guy" is just another way to tell a joke. It's not personal.

Its just a stereotype. There are numerous stereotypes out there about many different races, cultures, and just based on the way people look. Its unfair but its the way of the world. Its up to each one of us to break those stereotypes.

Blonde's aren't really dumb cause i've never been out with a Blonde girl,so they aren't really that daft......Life sucks lol
