I haver 3 cell phones right now and I'd like one just for traveling.

Yeah. The 1100 is a good basic (very basic) phone. You can get it for $10!

I'm not familiar with this particular phone. You do want something extremely low-tech, cheap, and pay as you go so it is basically disposable, no links back to you if it is lost. Put the minimum minutes on it because some plans expire (my prepaid minutes expire) IF you only use it once in a while.

Make sure callers have your number if you want them to, and make sure it is a different number from any others in case it gets lost in the wildreness.

AND make sure you have a plan that works where you are camping at a reasonable rate, and that you get signal.

Net10 makes a prepaid phone, no bells and whistles. I like mine. It is a Motorola V171 flip phone.

Carry it in a waterproof case!
