I'd have to say one of my favorites is "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & the Papas. Don't know what it is about the song, I just really enjoy it.

"You're Gonna Miss Me" - 13th Floor Elevators

This protopunk song predates the Stooges, the Dolls and all the rest.

Now it's being used in TV commercials to sell Dell Computers (Sigh).
