Why feed baby food at all. At 6 months babies can start table food. I never did pureed food and my son is perfectly happy and eats a great variety of foods. He has also never choked when feeding himself. He has choked on cereal and yogurt though.

She doesn't even need baby food right now so it really doesn't matter if she's not eating very much of it. As long as she is getting enough formula or breastmilk then she will be perfectly healthy. Adding rice cereal to it does make it a lot heavier though which will cause her to get full faster. If you stopped mixing in the cereal I'm sure she would be eating more of the baby food. It doesn't matter though, just keep doing what you're doing. She sounds healthy. My eight month old barely eats one whole stage 2 a day, in fact many days she can't even finish it.

According to the labels, stage 1 is for 6 months and up. Stage 2 is for 8 months and up. Stage 3 is 8-12 months. The labels are guidelines. It really depends on how many teeth she has and how well she can chew. My daughter is 9 months old and she eats table food. She also has 8 teeth, so that probably helps.

I think all babies are different. My son was eating strictly tablefood by the time he was 6 months old and we were even told to take him off of the formula at 8 months because he was eating so much tablefood. He also had six teeth by the time he was 5 months old so it was pretty easy for him to eat the tablefoods.

here are gerbers guidelines:
supported sitter-cereals, 1st foods
independent sitter- juices, 2nd foods
crawler-3rd foods
beginning to walk-graduates

they have the guidelines like this becasue age has NOTHING to do with a baby's devlopment
i copied this off a gerber product in my kitchen
