Is this bad? Should I be worried? I know it sounds silly, but sometimes I get hiccups so bad they hurt, and I would hate to think my baby is in pain

its totally normal. when i was pregnant with my daughter she got them all the time! the baby isn't in pain, so don't worry about that. but be prepared your baby will most likely get them all time when he or she is out! my daughter gets them every time she gets excited! well congratulations and good luck only 3 weeks to go!

Awww your question just brought back the memories of my first pregnancy. My baby constantly had the hiccups when I was expecting her. It used to drive me a bit crazy cause she'd be fine all day then at night when I was going to bed she'd start with the hiccups and she would keep me up most of the night. Don't worry they cause no harm and one day it will just be a cute memory like I have. I just found out that I'm pregnant with my second too!! Congratulations!

Since they aren't breathing yet their hiccups probably aren't quite as violent as ours can be. So I am guessing that he/she isn't in pain. The motion just really carries since they are surrounded in fluid and all.

My 2nd child had hiccups all the time in utero and he ended up having colic! I do not know if there is a connection or not. But colic isn't a serious problem for anybody other than the parents so I wouldn't be terribly worried.

Good Luck!

My daughter used to get hiccups every day around 5:30 P.M., in utero and after she was born. She is 13 now and has passed every milestone with flying colors, Don't worry I am sure that your baby is fine. Good luck.

Your baby could be having hiccups. It is normal. Don't worry and it shouldn't hurt him! I never knew this till I spent a month in an OB clinic during one of my medical school rotation, and many women asked the doctor this question.

Absolutely normal. In fact, fetal hiccoughing exercises the diaphragm, helping your baby's breathing mechanisms to become strong enough to transition to the open air in a few more weeks. I'd be more worried if the baby wasn't.

My daughter done that ALOT while I was carrying her. No, it won't cause any harm to them. I thought it was so cute. Everyone thought it was cute too when she would have them because it would cause my stomach to jump. I honestly don't know if they are painful for the baby or not, but I know it doesn't cause any harm to them in any other way. My daughter is 13 now and she was born fine.
