She's starting to teethe. here's a simple trick to find out which teeth are coming in: Gently tap on the gums with the bottom of a spoon. When you hear a "click" there's a tooth coming through. Usually, you can't even see the tooth but the click is still there. She'll probably feel a little feverish and cranky at times, too. Ask your doctor first, but as a general rule, a little Tylenol will help with that. And be careful when nursing. Once those teeth come in, they can draw blood and she'll have to go to the bottle for a while!

my daughter is 5 months ols now and has been chewing on her hands for ever. she wont take a suckie or anything. she loves her hands. your daughter may be getting ready to teeth. i found a really good teething medicin its called Hylands Teething Tablets. It works wonders. my daughter would stay up all day scearming because she was in so much pain. I started using it and she sleeps very good when she is having a nap now.

thats a big maybe. she may still be hungry though. try giving her a small bottle of water after the feedings. this should tell you if she sucks her hand for hunger or habit. good luck!

Many babies around this age start noticing their hands on sucking them. It could be from teething, or just could be exploring.

be careful.... you dont want her to get in the habit of putting her fingers in her mouth- its messy and its a hard habit to break. i know some 3-4 year-olds that still suck their fingers- doesnt look too great
give a pacifier instead
