Generally leopard geckos will defacate in one particular corner, this can be easly removed each day. This leaves the tank itself fairly clean, therefore there is no real need to clean out the tank or change the sand, It is suggested to wash the whole tank once a month, but with my Leopard Geckos I feel this measure is unnecesary just wipe the glass over evry so often, if you do find that the sand becomes messed with left over bits of crickets and cricket poop you could filter the sand with a sive or fish net..
If the area around the water dish is wet simply mix it back in with the dry. The water dish itself should be cleaned and refilled with fresh water daily.

YES. I had a leopard gecko named jonas...he got sick and the vet couldn't help him, but she told me the week I brought him in that most lizard owners dont change the sand enough...bateria can build up at the bottom of the tank, especially if you're feeding him live crickets. You should change the sand pretty frequently.

i wouldnt suggest using sand at all. I had 2 geckos , and recently had to give one to the rescue society , as he got extremely sick from eating the sand. Most professional breeders recomend paper towels or newspaper, then just change it like once or twice a month. Alot of pet stores will say to use sand ony cause its more expensive.

Take out his droppings as and when you see them.Change the sand every couple of months.
Ensure you buy sand that will not hurt them if they accidentally eat a bit of it-ask at a pet shop that sells them and they will tell you which kind to use.

yes you need to completely change any substrate around once every 1-2 months it can be harmful to the animal if you don't and could even kill them as a result of bacteria build up!
when you take the old stuff out disinfect the cage too just to make sure but ONLY with special stuff from pet shops thats safe for animals.

You should change the sand regularly and I often sieve the sand to remove "lumps" and dead food when I clean my tank inbetween changing the sand.

Yes, you should change it every three months. And once a week you should spot clean it. Scoop out any spot that you see feces or anything like that.
