I have so much free time at my job I need something to pass the time.

Try proofreading. This isn't just for manuscripts. Court reporters often hire people to proofread transcripts of court hearings for them. You need good spelling and grammar skills, but it can be an interesting second job. Good luck.

not a good idea - stealing time from your employer.

free time means time to show some initiative and find something to do - related to your current job - not related to someone else's job.

you can write letters. For example you could write letters to childeren for Christmas and sign them Santa or at Easter, write letters and sign them from the Easter Bunny ect.

How about asking your supervisor for more responsibility? Could lead to promotion, better pay, etc.
