You do whatever you want to do, and be happy. I'm happily married, but I can still say Valentines Day is over rated. People (couples and singles) put so much pressure on it, and get so bent out of shape. If you're single, be thankful you don't have to worry about it. You are free. Who cares about one day? People who have someone should enjoy eachother everyday, and people who are single should be happy and make the most of being single.
By the way, don't feel bad about being single and don't let anyone else try to make you feel bad. Being single (or married or part of a couple) does not define who you are. It is only a temporary circumstance. You can "treat" yourself anytime you want to, but don't feel like you have to do anything.

Go get a manicure and a massage (and a facial and a pedicure, as much as you can afford). Call a good friend who is also single and dish. Order in a nice meal (NOT a pizza, that's for PMS!), put your face on, light some candles, play the music you like and have a nice time!

Can I say masturbation? (Lol, I'm surprised no one else said it)
Anyway, on a more serious note, go out with some friends (or just do this by yourself) and get some food that's a little more expensive than you'd usually allow yourself. Feel free to overindulge a little; have a dessert for sure. Do something that's fun for you, preferably with some single friends of yours. If you have a dog go out for a walk and play in the park. For all you know you might pick someone up by being out and about. Go to a dance club or a clean bar. Before you go out, make sure you make yourself look nice, smell nice, and that will make you FEEL nice. Even being single, you can have a good time if you make yourself feel great. When you LOOK good, you FEEL good.
I didn't get too specific because you didn't specify your gender.

Go out with all of your friends! Buy them little gifts, go to the movies...etc. After that, buy yourself a HUGE heart box of chocolate and take a bubble bath with candles and soothing music. Catch up on relaxing time! When someone asks you how was your Valentine's day? Say it was the best I've ever had.

if youre a boy, order a pizza, veg out on the couch and watch a movie only a man could like

Get a group of single friends together and have dinner either out or at someone's house. It is so much fun and you do not feel alone.

Why not call the nearest homeless shelter and see if you can volunteer for the day serving food or whatever. I bet you won't feel so bad about being single after that!

I'm single, so I'm getting all the candy, ice cream, and chocolate in my house and putting it on my living room cofee table. Then I'm watching Titanic, Pearl Harbor, Flight 93, The Notebook (all those ones that make you cry) and eating all the buckets of ice cream and candy while I cry my eyes out. ;-)

Well that depends. If your a girl, you can go take yourself out to dinner, or maybe even buy yourself something nice such as clothing or perfume. However, if youre a guy, turn on your computer and oil your right hand
