"Si, I want to go to Taco Bell!"
Despite the dog becoming a popular pop icon, the restaurant's declining sales caused the company to retire the role and replace with new advertisements. It did cause a few rumors that the dog was retired after an accident. It was also rumored that the model "Gidget" had passed away, but Taco Bell denies this, saying the dog is currently living with owners in La Grange, Texas.

All I heard was that Taco Bell revised it's advertizing scheme and got rid of the dog. I'm sorry I missed it but they say Jay Leno had a hilarious sketch right after Taco Bell fired the dog, where he had a chihuahua on the show and it was cussing and carrying on because he'd been fired. A friend that saw the skit said it was hilarious. I'm just sorry that they haven't put it out on DVD or something.

Taco Bell got sued for not paying the people who came up with the dog idea. So instead of having to give them credit and more money Taco Bell got rid of the dog.

He is still around. The dog was most recently featured in a commercial for GEICO in 2002 along with the GEICO gecko. In 2003, the dog played the role of Bruiser's mom in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde.Since then not sure sorry.Have a great day.

bear in mind the Taco Bell commercial that featured Godzilla? The dogs stated, "i imagine i want a larger container." possibly Godzilla stepped on him. or possibly Taco Bell's promoting crew only desirous to pass on to at least something different. i imagine they ought to've kept the chihuahua.

(A.)got hit by a truck
(B.)got E. Coli poisoning from the lettuce in their tacos
(C.)their slogan got changed to "Think Outside The Bun"(even though they serve tacos) and didn't think it would be amusing to see a chihuahua saying "Think Outside The Bun" instead of "Yo kierro! Taco Bell."
