How many different ways can you think of using leather to create any kind of art work?

If leather is wet, it can be pushed and stretched and when it dries it gets hard - masks, shields, etc. If instead of letting it get hard, you treat it with saddlesoap and oils, you can make soft formed shapes like holsters and body part protection.
If soft tanned skins are used they can be treated like fabric and thin sliced pieces can be used for weaving or lacing.
Leather takes dies and thus can be used for colored patterns
Of course, leather working with embossing the surface has a long history - when it is hammered or pressured it turns darker, but if the embossed surface is treated carefully, you can darken the surface and leave the lower surface lighter.

Very strange one we used to do in art school. Grind soft leather in a meat grinder four or five times until it's almost like a powder, combine with good old Elmer's glue and sculpt it into anything or put the mixture into a mold, let it dry and voila organic belt buckle
