According to figures released by the Ohio Dept. of Jobs and Family Services, the number of people receiving welfare in the state has doubled since Oct. 2006.
It is comforting, however, that there are people in Mexico and China who are not having any troubles paying their bills and are enjoying the jobs that once were in Ohio.
This is the cost of an economy that is geared to helping the upper end of the income level. Don't be surprised when all that corporate profit gets lost to increased taxes to pay for food stamps for the idle working class.
FYI. I am neither a liberal nor a conservative. I am a lion, in case you haven't noticed.

Yes. I agree with those who pointed out that unions are a big problem with the jobs leaving Ohio. But, figures show that for every 1 union job that leaves Ohio, 5 non-union jobs evaporate.
These are the job of the people who provided services, supplies, and products to the factories and the factory workers.
Unions are a major problem, no arguement there. But most of the jobs lost are non union workers.

how can you explain 7.2 million job creation in the last 2 years. when small and medium business account for 80 % of job creation in the country.....if you are saying its illegal immigration I agree that is not helping however come to Houston. I guarantee your problem isn't as bad as ours but our economy hasn't been this good since the 80 oil boom. As far as globalization it works the other way as well. this is why the jobs are being created too. if they send a menial job overseas for cheaper costs they can hire more jobs in another area they need to concentrate on here. It is not the job of a company to keep a certain type of job because there are people doing it. people need to diversify there abilities. trust me I understand this very well being a child of a father that was booted out of the oil industry in the bust. He worked his way from the mail room to upper management and that is all he knew. he had to start over with another profession and is now doing better then before. it takes effort and hard work but its out there. the world cant accommodate everyone for anything they want, its evolving and people must evolve with it.

I can just hear the answers now: "That's the fault of the middle-class workers who weren't smart enough to own businesses!" or "It's not OUR responsibility to support those lazy welfare cheats!"
Or... wait a minute! Is *that* why the conservatives are so worried about illegal immigration? Illegal immigrants often take jobs Americans aren't willing to do, right? Well that's where the former faculty workers are supposed to go--domestic and lawn services.

Hmm. Is Ohio a generally union State? Unions often signify jobs/economic problems coming up, or past. They've outlived their usefulness some decades ago.

it is a failing! interior the 30-50% is the position you hit upon the insurgents. in case you are able to't feed your household there's a venture of mass proportions! that is why the wealthy do no longer understand- they have not in any respect been hungry!

Okay now, I really see no place for humor to be injected here. I'm a bit disappointed.
But to answer your question, I would look to unions as part of the culprit in Ohio. I still see low unemployment rates nationwide, and a strong DOW. I think part of accepting our global economy may require the willingness of Americans to relocate to where the jobs are.
