i've wondered since i was 3 and can't take not knowing any longer

As you must have known, the white light can be split into seven colors namely VIBGYOR. Also the wavelength increases from violet to red. Longer the wavelength longer the travel of the light. So when the light from the SUN enters the earth it gets dispersed into the seven colors, at the time reaches you most of the smaller wavelength fades away and mostly from blue to red sustains. That's why the sky is blue most of the time.
