Same as the prior answer. If there were no ugly people, good looks would be average looks and so NO ONE would be good looking.

It is just because there ARE so many ugly people that good looks are so beneficial. It's the old "supply and demand" formula. There are so many ugly people (supply) that good looks becomes beneficial (demand).
