You will need to get a wireless router that you can get free from most Internet providers BT AOL and the likes. then just plug in to phone line switch on the laptop follow the instructions with the router and you on.

Most modern laptops include wireless adapter capabilities as a default component. You likely won't have to buy anything for the laptop to connect to a wireless router.

Now if you don't have a wireless router in your house, you'll need to setup a wireless network before your laptop can connect to the Internet (FYI - you aren't "installing the Internet" on your PC, just configuring it to connect to the Internet).

First, do you have a broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP)? If you do, they should have provided you with a modem. From that modem, you'll want to plug in a wireless router if you don't have one. After that, you'll follow your wireless routers instructions for setting up wireless service. I'd recommend reading the section on enabling WPA to secure your service. This is a little more difficult but will ensure other people aren't tapping into your service.

If it's a new laptop it should be 'wireless ready' (or make sure you get one that is). If you have a wireless network at home you won't need to install anything. The first time you switch your computer on it should automatically find available networks (if not, just click on the icon and ask it to find them). You will have to put in the key for your home network on the first connection, after that it will be automatic. Your laptop should also tell you when it detects any other available wireless networks - if you subscribe to BT Openworld you will be able to use hotspots in town.
