Why are so many Conservatives out of touch with reality?

Even on Yahoo answers there is evidence of a "head stuck in the sand" attitude among a lot of Conservatives. Most of their answers are one liners, usually not answering the question but rather taking a cheap shot at the asker. Facts don't seem to make a difference either, as they just deny any facts or sources presented to them as "liberal bias". Why are they in denial?

In recent years, it seems that people from all walks of life have become out of touch with reality. I don't believe that their political or religious pursuasions have anything to do with it. People are burned out; more people than ever are being diagnosed with mental disorders; more people than ever are using the two most dangerous of illegal drugs; more people than ever before are victims of stressed-out, messed up lives.

The children of these people have had little supervision, have been given whatever they want, and do whatever they want. What have we done!! The very people who will inherit this earth don't have a clue as to what is even legal and illegal.

I'm disgusted.

show me the questions you need answered properly. and I will do my best. What kind of facts are you presenting. I have seen facts that were based on major stretching of a word or complete missuse of a word. Calling Bush a "liar" because of Iraq for instance (Missuse of a word.) . read th Dictionary Websters. The worse you can call him is missinformed.I just have a hard time believeing words that come out of liberal mouths. when they do not use the proper words to desribe things. Kill is not the same as murder. And the Bible does say do not murder. Why would a God who says not to kill ask the jews to kill everyone in Jericho?

Below is a response I wrote to another question in this forum. I believe it is relevant to your question. My main point is, conservatives are out of touch with reality because the real world scares them.

Because to live in the real world is to be willing and able to adapt to change. To grow by learning from experience and incorporating new ideas and information. Those are things that naturally go against what conservatives stand for. That's why they would prefer to keep their heads stuck in the sand than to coexist with the rest of the human race.

Anyway, here's the response I gave to the other question in this forum. It's very relevant to your question:

Conservatives live in fear because the world is changing, evolving, right before their very eyes, and they can't stand it.

The majority of conservatives want to maintain the status-quo, do not believe in Global Warming, abhor social and cultural progress, condemns radical views and innovative thinking, want life to be governed by a book that is thousands of years old, and basically desire to keep everthing the way it was back 'in the good 'ol days'.

They're afraid to admit that the world has become too complicated and dynamic to make their narrow minded and misguided beliefs relevant.

And that's why they lash out. Because when you live in fear, chances are you also live in anger. That's why many conservatives are angry at the world, because they know it's slowly leaving them behind.

Some people who consider themselves conservatives are part of the "faith based" community, meaning if reality is against what they believe then they reject reality.

This is a choice they make, but it means they're closed off to facts and reality they really should think about rather than just ignore facts they don't want to believe.

Don't confuse conservatives with neo-cons. Conservatives believe in limited government. I don't think that you could equate that with being out of touch with reality. Certainly, we are out of touch with the powers that be, namely, GWB. He is a neo-con. He believes in efficient big government. He believes in foreign entanglements, and undeclared wars. He believes is undermining our Constitutional Rights to "protect us from terrorism."

Ya want some facts? Here's some facts:

-An unborn baby has a fully functioning heart after 4 weeks, fully functioning lungs after 6 weeks, a fully developed liver after 8 weeks, and has its own DNA from the moment it starts to grow inside its mother. The baby is alive, and therefore, abortion is COLD BLOODED MURDER!!!
-Normal Americans like me don't like the fact that men who like to have sex with other men and women who like to f..k other women want to be "accepted as normal human beings." We don't care if they get married, but normal and accepted? GET OUT!! WE THINK THEY ARE FREAKS!!!!!
-Bush hasn't killed Iraqi civilians, the terrorists have. All 59,000 Iraqi deaths are a result of internal fighting, not the U.S military!
-There was undeniable evidence that Saddam was ready to get weapons of mass destruction, and his number 2 man admits in "Saddam's Secrets" that the WMD's were in Syria! The war in Iraq is therefore justified! BUSH DIDN'T LIE!!! His plan has not gone as expected, but he was BEYOND JUSTIFIED in going to war!
-Bush is allowed by the Constitution to "spy" on our phone calls and emails, AMONG OTHER THINGS THAT HE HAS CHOSEN NOT TO DO!! Read the ruling "Stenek vs. United States" of 1919 and get back to me!
-Global Warming exists, BUT WE DON'T GIVE A RAT'S ***!! It doesn't mean the end of the world! YOU LIBERALS ARE THE FEAR MONGERERS!! NOT US!!! Did global warming attack the world trade center?
