It's called a signature colour. If you see it often enough, you'll be able to tell the channel or ident without even paying attention.
That way, when they advertise in other mediums such as bill boards or magazines, you will instantly know what you are dealing with and continue reading.
It's a technic that has been used for years.

Red is used just like many other colors as a way to control the way people think when they see it, when a person see's the color red the mind comes alive, and almost gets angry, or aggitated, gets the blood flowing a little bit.

It's their corporate colour.
Basically they use it as a part of their corporate identity, so you'll associate that colour when ever you see a part of their logo, etc.
Try spending some time abroad and then watch BBC World; then you'll see what I'm getting at. The association is quite strong.
