Right not always. Sometimes you don't even get a Recovery disc but instead when you first boot the computer it will request that you burn one and store it in a safe place. These computers also have recovery partitions on the hard drive but if the hard drive crashes, so does your recovery partition, it's advisable to create the restore disc in addition to the partition.

It usually comes with a restore CD that contains the Windows XP Operating systems. So its not a generic CD that you can install on any computer. Its a CD that is made only for your computer and its free.

Manufactures do load windows on the computer before you buy it, and then you can make your own disc. Some do and some don't. I have a compaq computer and when I bought it, it was already loaded on my computer. I think most computers made by HP come preloaded. If it is not already on your computer, the cd would be included in the price.. Good Luck..

No, they usually neglect to do that nowadays. If you buy a computer in the store, just tell them that you want your computer to include the physical Windows XP disc with it and you dont want to hear any excuses about it either.

If you buy a PC and it comes with XP on it, they are supposed to supply you with a copy of the XP CD. They didn't do it with mine and I didn't realize it until after I'd moved away, and now I'm unable to fix and do a lot of things I'd normally be able to, and it sucks.

It usually comes with the disk, but most of the times it's a recovery disk. You can reinstall the OS with it, but it will delete all the data first.
The recovery disk is used when the OS has crashed or died. As I said, it reinstalls the OS.
Make sure you ask for the disk when purchasing a new computer, because sometimes they don't come with one.

XP is usually installed free, and the cd is SUPPOSED to be included (although mine wasn't). You'll still have to buy Microsoft Office if you want to use office programs like Word and Excel.

Manufacterer's get a discount from microsoft if they don't ship a disc with the computer (so it's not easily pirated). If you want an OEM disc, you'll have to pay for it.

You have to pay for the machine to have Windows pre-installed and a license to use Microsoft's software. You usually get given an "OEM" license, which means if the machine dies your license to use the Microsoft software dies with the machine.
