Being born and raised in the south, I can tell you that from my experiences I do believe that southerners are much nicer. I've been to NYC a couple of times and although some people there are nice, I feel that the southerners are more kind.

Definitely. I was born in New York, lived in New Jersey until I was 16, and yes I hated it here for the first year. BUT, that being said, southerners are far more hospitable than your average New Yorker. I've been here 30 years now, and I'll never move back to the northeast again.

There are good and bad people in every state. Some would answer your question "yes" and some will say "no". I am from Kentucky and I pride myself on making anyone I meet who comes here to visit feel comfortable. I have been to some northern states and I met some nice people and some that were not so nice.

i did not discover the south in any respect hospitable. I had to move from the west coast to the Carolinas. The foreman does no longer tell me the position the time clock or locker room grow to be. i grow to be threatened with gay rape the subsequent day! those non secular bible thumping persons did not imagine any aspect of stealing from unlocked lockers, or device packing packing containers! i grow to be not in any respect made to experience at domicile in my years there. The 3 hundred and sixty 5 days I retired, yet another worker, a southerner, offered dinner for each and each and every of the employees except me! No coworkers protested or maybe apologized for his moves. they seem to be a highly slimy and cliquish bunch. I referred to NO hospitality between any of them, at domicile or at paintings.

Southerners are polite to your face but behind your back they are just as rude or even worst than New Yorkers. That's why I prefer New Yorker over my native Southerners.

I grew up in Atlanta and have traveled all over. What I learned are that there are good and bad people everywhere. I will say that Southerners are a little slower to anger and mostly when they're pissed, they simply seethe and won't get loud about it. We are a region of passive agressors, meaning if you take the parking space we were waiting on, we probably won't yell at you, but we might key your car a little bit once you've gone inside the store. :)

100% true

I've had two friends move to Los Angeles in the last three years and they said the same thing - "The people only look out for themselves."

Depends on where you are in the south. Texas is not the south no matter what they say. South Carolina, North Carolina Virginia, west Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia are extremely friendly states.
