Laurel on Berkeley St is great - not all seafood, but oh so good.
Atlantic Seafood on Newbury St
C.F. Donovan's in Dorchester (on the Red line) is great food, great seafood, huge portions
Jacob Wirths in the theatre district is some of the best food in the city. revitalized german fare - with the best calimari and grilled shrimp caesar anywhere!

Legal is only good for their fresh oysters (yum!) - the rest of their food is not worth the money. Very chain-style with a scoop of steamed veggies on the side of everything.

Well it depends on what you want. If you want the typical New England fried seafood, I'd say Woodman's in Essex, which is supposedly the home of the first fried clam. Otherwise, I would say get out of the city and travel to some of the places on Cape Ann like Gloucester and Rockport, there are probably too many good places to list.

One of my favorite restaurants in Boston is Brown Sugar on Comm Ave in the BU area. They serve Thai food and it's, in my opinion the best Thai food in the area. They also remodeled a few years ago. You also can't go wrong with any Italian restaurant in the North End near hanover or Salem Street. I never repeat when I go there because they're all amazing. Don't forget Mike's Pastry's for desert in the north end.

Great Bay on Commonwealth Ave. If you can't afford it, stick with Legal Seafoods...they are the best affordable option.
