I'm already "up" thank goodness. I do greatly empathize with those who are not.

This isn't a matter of OPINION. It's a matter of FACT.
The middle class - defined by most economists as households earning between 2X and 5X the poverty level - is smaller than it was a generation ago, both in the absolute and in proportion to the whole, because of households moving out faster than they are moving in, to the middle class.
But consistently for the last 25 years the ratio of households moving out is 92% up to 8% down. 92 to 8.
So while technically the statement that it's either up or down for many of us, you're being misleading when you give the implication that that's ALL of us or that a significant portion of the country is moving down. Basically unless you're in the automotive industry and have decided NOT to relocate to North Carolina where Toyota is hiring like crazy, you're either still in the middle class - which has seen its real median income rise 32% over the last generation - or you've moved up.
I keep posting this but you Libs keep "deciding" not to "believe" the Department of Labor, Census Bureau or Federal Reserve on this.
And by the way, more jobs are outsourced TO the US than FROM the US.

The middle class has been a supposed "endangered species" since the early 80's. The great thing about this country is that we have the ability to create our own destiny. So the middle class will always be there.

I will go down. I have always said those of us that are middle class are the worse off. We make too much to get any financial help but we don't make enough to get ahead. We are constantly struggling to make ends meet. There is no extra money. We work and pay out taxes every week, which is a big chunk of our checks. It disgusts me to see able bodied people getting a check to keep having babies.

Because I'm lucky enough to have some advanced degrees, I'm likely to go up for awhile. But almost all of us, at the point that we retire, will go down again.

I don`t care. This term "middleclass" means nothing other, than that those ppl have about the same income & standard. So what if they have that? Whats the real agenda in it?

Hell no...the elimination of the middle class is a stated goal of communism. And communism is aimed at the removal of rights and freedoms
