I'm a member of Bookcrossing.com and in fact I organise the local Belfast Bookcrossing meetup group. We register books we have read on the site and then release them into the wild for others to catch and make a journal entry saying what they thought of the book, then they release it somewhere else and soon we see where it continues its journey anywhere in the world!

OHH, I love Bookcrossing. What a fabulous idea. I have released dozens of books, but never found one. I live in a semi-rural area, though. Not too many places to leave them where they'll be found before they become rubbish.

I still hope to, though. I don't want to go find one based on clues. That seems like cheating. Plus, I'd have to go a ways, I think, to the next big city, which is about 90 minutes.

I joined after finding one 'in the wild' (left at our library). I've registered a couple but am worried about releasing them as I feel they could so easily be picked up and thrown away. As a result I'm trying to think of somewhere to release them where that isn't so likely - so far have thought about charity shops but then if someone's paid for the book is it fair to expect them to 'release' it? You almost need bookcrossing points so people know where to find them and to leave them but that would probably be very difficult to do and may detract from the idea of bookcrossing. I might simply swap my books but leave the bookcrossing label in there in the hope they will go further.

I've released books, but never found one or have had any of mine found. I think my community is too small and many elderly. I even released a book while on vacation in Vancouver, but it wasn't found. I tried, but since no one found the ones I released, I gave up. Now I just use paperbackbookswap and get the books I really want to read.
