You could get mugged, raped, or murdered... that's always nice.
But seriously. Newport is a clean safe place to visit (interesting that it's not in Cincinnati, but actually in Kentucky)... they have a lot of good restaurants and theaters and shopping around there. You could go to a sporting event, but there's no baseball or football in February, but there is a minor league hockey team that plays there. Or you could go to UC or Xavier basketball games... or if you're up for an hour drive, go to Miami University's basketball or hockey games. Cinci has an art museum you could visit.
Whatever you decide to do, be safe... it's not the safest city in the world.

You're probably better off listening to people who actually know the area, as opposed to those who moved away 30 years ago.
Really, there are a lot of things to do and see. Cincy has a highly acclaimed orchestra and ballet, The Newport Aquarium is very highly regarded and just FANTASTIC. Our zoo is among the top in the nation. There are many things for many tastes. Look at this link, scroll down the page, and click on any of the listings and you'll get full info on everything.

If you have kids I would highly recommend The Great Wolf Lodge. Its in Mason, which is a little north of Cincinnati. It just opened this past December and its pretty amazing. I took the family up there in January and we had a blast. They have an indoor water park, which features a bunch of slides and a pretty awesome wave pool. Besides the water park they have a huge arcade with tons of games that the kids just loved. They also have two or three restaurants so you really never have to leave...Oh and by the way the rooms are REALLY nice too.

OK, I'm from Cincinnati, and this is a pet peeve of ours: There is only one t!!!
Ok, now that that is out of the way, make sure you have some skyline chili. Get a 4 way and a cheese coney. GO GOOD. Go to Frisch's and get a Big Boy with extra tartar sauce. They make it different in Cincy. Graeter's ice cream is the best. Make sure you try it.
In the summer, King's Island is only about an hour away and it's a great amusement park. You can also go to Cinergy Field and watch a Reds game.
In the fall, go to Paul Brown Stadium and cheer on the Bengals.

Since it's winter and a lot of fun things like Kings Island and the Beach are closed, I suggest going to the Newport Aquarium or Great Wolf Lodge. Great Wolf Lodge is a new indoor water park and Newport Aquarium is always fun.

Right now, with a winter blizzard..not much; just stay off the roads and in your house. But, in human weather, try Newport on the Levee - a nice urban mall entertainment district right across the Ohio river from Dtown Cinci. www.newportonthelevee.com

Not much. I grew up there and lived there for 20 years. I moved to New England and once you have something else to compare it to, Cincy is sorely lacking in many areas. But I am still a HUGE Bengals fan.

Yes, Columbus is the capital of Ohio. Cincinnati has never been the capital of Ohio.
