with my sis-in-law, for example, her first baby was 8-9 lbs and her last was nearly 11 lbs... so, does that hold true for most full-term, normal, healhty pregnancies?

That was the assumption that my ob-gyn made when choosing a scheduled c-section for my second child. My first, although an average size (7 lbs 14 oz) was too big for me (I was "unable to progress"), resulting in a c-section. My ob-gyn told me that subsequent children are usually bigger, and that I should therefore plan for a c-section. My second was only 7 lbs, 7 oz, but he was a 11 earlier than my first (first one born 8 days before due date, second one came 19 days before due date, despite the scheduled c-section, which was supposed to be 8 days before due date!). So I'd say yes, they are usually bigger.

My OB says that the size of a baby depends on the age of the mother. Younger mothers tend to have smaller babies. As you get older the babies get a little heavier. But women reach a point in age where the babies will start to have lower weights again. I have 3 children and this was true for me. My middle child , 9lbs 10oz weighed more then my first 6lbs 5oz and last 8lbs 9oz baby. There was a 11 year break from the first one. So you see the birth weight being a lot lower because I was a lot younger. All healthy pregnancies. You could check this with your OB

My Dr told me that the more you have the bigger they tend to be. Going on a generalization from his experience. My 1st was 6.10 and the 2nd was 8.3. I had both naturally and had more tearing with the 1st than 2nd. I can say that being as my girls have different fathers that that did make some of the difference in them. My husband is 6'3'' and my last one was 21 1/2 inches long. My 1st one's donor was short around 5'5'' or 5'7''. Bear in mind that I'm only 5 foot nothing. My Dr also told me that with each pregnancy the muscles loose their elasticity and so you show sooner and get bigger faster and bigger all together b/c the baby can fall forward more.

No, a lot of factors determine the weight. The only one I noticed that had to affect the weight was that with my second son, I gained over 50 lbs, and he was my biggest. With the other 2 kids I only gained what I was supposed to. (25 lbs) My first one was 6.7, second was 8.7, and third was 7.11. I'll let you know when the 4th one gets here in september. lol

No it doesn't. My first son was 8-4 and my second was 7-8. My second was born 2 weeks early and my first was born 9 days early. Don't worry!

Yes, on average they do, although every baby and mother is different. On average, though, each baby will be about 4 oz. heavier than the last.
