The main problem is greed. Capitalism continues to grow exponentially as a result of increasing profits. Profit is the only measure of capitalistic endeavor and as a result, jobs, factories and industries are freely moved around the world in order to increase the bottom line. Unfortunately, these moves have nothing to do with efficiency or productivity except in the capitalistic interpretation of these terms. Exploitation of resources is the battle cry of capitalism. The system thrives on cheap labor which holds the promise of profits. Capitalism has no social conscience.

The problem with capitalism is that many of those that can't succeed in the system try to break it with socialism or communism.
In the great depression in the USA many of the socialistic anti-capitalistic policies actually exagerated and prolonged the economic downturn.
Capitalism does a very good job of using the basic human greed to improve the standard of living of all involved. Other modern economic systems use "envy" to pull down those at the top to make the worst off feel better relative to those at the top.
Capitalism does a far better job at creation of absolute wealth for the poor and the rich, while socalism and communism reduce the inbalance of wealth.

Amen to Dr Fred.
The main problem with capitalism is that people hate the liberty and personal responsibility that come along with it. They would rather have the government interfere in everyone else's life in order to improve their own.

Main point in capitalism is largely a free market, laissez-faire. Governmental interference is not wanted. But we learned that this did not work during the depression. When government stepped in to create public jobs, then the economy slowly became better.
