My favorite in Laughlin is the Ramada Express...The only negative is, it's not on the river front. Nice rooms, really nice pool and garden area for walks.

Don Laughlin's is a very nice hotel also, and it's on the river. I just like the Ramada better

These three are all about the same. In the range of LV three star hotels. Aquarius(was the flamingo) the Golden Nugget and Harrah's

At the lower range, but still not bad are the Colorado Belle, Edgewater and River Palms. Nobody is going to mistake the Colorado Belle for a 4 star hotel but it's fun, and I happen to like the place..

I think you will have a great time. Just like Las Vegas though, if you avoid special events and weekends you will save a lot of money...Just by going to the web site of most Laughlin hotels and signing up for e-mail updates you will receive room rate specials from them...I get offers about once a month from the Colorado Belle, Edgewater, Ramada Express and Aquarius...

this is my favorite site to check Laughlin room rates

I should add, that also just like Las Vegas (if) you play, sign up for the hotel's slot club and use the card(s) whenever you play. Two can play on one account and this is "generally" the best way to go if you're low rollers. It takes very little play in Laughlin to get you on the marketing radar in comparison with Las Vegas(generally)

Two K per day will get you free room offers from the CB, EW and RP, this does not mean you have to whip out a bankroll of $2,000. Two K per day means you play quarter video poker for an hour each(800 hands per hour>which is average, 600HPH is slow, 1000HPH is fast). The Aquarius is also very easy anywhere in the 2K to 5K range, 2K will get you offers of free nights during the week, 5K and you can have weekends too.

A friend of mine(& his wife) from Chicago put through 10K(per day>video poker) at the Golden Nugget and they are offered the full RFB treatment(rooms/food/booze) and charter flights.

Five K per day will get you free night offers from the RE and DL >Sunday through Thursday and the casino rate for weekends(at the least)

IMHO video poker is the best way to go when it comes to casino comps/marketing. By playing "advantage" VP every dollar you play is tracked, the payout is much better than slot machines and unlike the tables you're not subject to the whims of the floor who is filling out a rating slip on you.

If you're going to play table games, the best are.
Blackjack > use the basic strategy cards sold at the casino, if you don't know it already.

Craps >play the pass line, take the odds, place the 6 (or) 8 all the other bets are bad ones, some are really bad.

Baccarat > bet the bank or player >simple game

Pai Gow Poker >has a slightly higher house advantage than the others (1.46%) but it's a very slow game, very sociable and 45% of the hands are pushes. You get 7 cards and make 2 hands, a five card hand and a 2 card hand, the only rule is, the 5 card hand must beat the 2.

(Just trying to be helpful not condescending, you may well know more that I do about casino gaming.)

Great suites are in Caesars, Palace Tower-- great two person spa tubs, two person showers. Down on the ground floor you walk right out to the great pools, and the hotel spa is right there as well. In Laughlin Harrah's is the largest and probably nicest of the casino hotels. Laughlin doesn't have the huge mega hotels that Vegas does, and aren't nearly as nice but Harrahs is certainly doable.

first of all Laughlin is a dump. There is now way around it. The best thing there is the "losers lounge" at Don Laughlin 's. In terms of hotels what do you expect for $50 bucks a night?
