Clothes are the way of expressing one's self. I understand that you don't want uniforms, and being the age that you are you really need to be mature when fighting for your right. Make a list on why you don't like the uniforms. Explain to your principle on how you feel. Be very mature about it.

Make a petition stating all the reasons you don't want the uniforms and get your classmates to sign it. Then take it a present it to your principal. Make sure it is a mature reason and not something like, the uniforms are ugly. That will get you no where fast. Unfortunately for you, being in elementary school, you probably won't get rid of them. Personally, I think uniforms have several advantages. I'm a sophomore, and have never had uniforms, but for some reason, want them. I think they are kind of cute, or at least the ones my school district was going to get a while back, and that way no one feels like a loser for not wearing expensive clothes. Plus, I kind of like the whole schoolgirl thing.

At 1st I did not like the uniforms. But it makes since. You all look alike and there is really nothing you can point out about each other. Since it was always a group thing at my schools.. preps were wealthy, goths were poor, and cowboys were well themselves.. that is how it was labeled. I did not dress well like the preps..but we made just as much money as any of them. I just did not care about material things in school. You should just get used to it. The uniforms will not be going anywhere. The way the schools look at it .. is you are there to learn and it should not matter what you are wearing. But kids do not think that way and this is why uniforms were developed. If you all are dressed alike then there is less chances of separation in classes.

You can't. The only way to get rid of them is for the majority of the parents to go to the board of education and complain. But then it is still up to the board. They tried to start that here also but too many parents found about it and showed up at the meeting to voice their opinions so the subject was dropped. Just be happy at least with the uniforms you don't have to worry about what to wear each day and you don't have to worry about someone having better clothes than yours because everyone is wearing the same thing.

Your principal is not going to get rid of your uniforms just because you and your friends don't like them. The reason for the uniforms is so there is no rivalry between the students about who is richer and who has the better clothes.

unfortunately i doubt ull get rid of them if ur in elementary school, there are a lot of benefits to having uniforms when ur in elementary school. such as if someone comes on the campus that shouldnt be there, they will be recognized. but then again. they should also have student ID cards. but i agree, having uniforms suck. i had them since i was in 5th grade. so i had 2 years in elementary, then 3 in middle school and then high school didnt have them so that was lucky.

Uniforms are a great idea. Do you know why? Because you won't feel the need to compete with the kids to look good in the most popular fashions. You can concentrate on your school work instead.

Write a letter to the school and ask them to reconsider the uniforms... have all the students sign it... come up with three good reasons that you should be able to dress in a proper manner of the clothes you choose... be respectful...

Honestly, uniforms are better. This means your parents won't have to buy each child $500.00 worth of clothes for the year. (Maybe not that much, but you know what I mean.) Also, it helps students learn math, science, English/Spanish, etc, not what the 'cool' kids are wearing.
